Section 6 of the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) covers temporary traffic control (TTC) during roadway construction. Its rules cover both public roads and private roads that are open to public travel. A person who is given the responsibility of selecting, placing, and maintaining the devices used for temporary traffic control must have training in proper temporary traffic control principles and practices.
